Seventy is a small New Zealand company that designs small homes and stands behind them. This page is the honest version: why we exist, how we work, and what we promise.
Since January 2026, New Zealand homes of 70 square metres or less no longer need building consent, provided a licensed professional designs them and a licensed builder puts them up. The Building Code did not get easier: the home still has to be warm, dry, structurally sound and properly drained. What changed is who carries the sign-off. Instead of lodging drawings with council and waiting in the queue, the licensed professionals carry the responsibility, and council receives a record of works when it is done.
That exemption is only useful if you can get proper drawings without commissioning an architect from scratch. So that is the company: three small homes designed to sit under the exemption, plan sets priced honestly, and a process that adapts them to any address in New Zealand. Nothing else.

No two sections are the same, so no set ships generic. Wind zone, soil type, snow loading and the local planning overlay are checked for your address before anything is signed.
The consent exemption works because licensed professionals carry the responsibility. A licensed designer reviews and signs your adapted set. No signature, no set.
